PUDUCHERRY: A dance teacher was arrested, on Wednesday, for allegedly sexually assaulting a 12-year-old girl nearly seven months back. He was also charged under Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act (POCSO).
The accused was identified as Kumaresan alias Mohan (20), a resident of Kootu Road in Irumbai, who conducted dance classes at his house. According to the complainant, the victim, a Class VII student, would attend dance classes in the company of her 14-year old brother. Nearly seven months back, Kumarasen visited the Govindasalai house of the victim, when she was alone.
On seeing the girl coming out of the bathroom, he locked the door of the house and sexually assaulted her. The victim tried to escape from the clutches of Kumaresan, who forced himself on her. Subsequently, Kumaresan threatened the girl not to reveal the matter to anyone.
The victim tried to tell her mother, who works in a bakery, and her brother about the incident. However, they did not take her seriously. After the incident, the girl refused to attend Kumaresan’s dance classes.
But her brother forcibly took her to Kumaresan’s house, where the dance teacher distracted the boy by allowing him to play games on his tablet and again sexually abused the victim.Kumaresan reportedly threatened her by burning her hand.
